A website about the origin of the names Morffew, Morfew, Morphew, Morfu, Morfewe, Morfue, Morfi, Morphea, Morphue, Morfee and Murphew.
The information about the possible source of these names is compiled into a PDF document which is updated as new information comes to light, ( see link on left ).
The document looks at Anglo Saxon England where there is a record of a Morfe Forest in Shropshire, the Norman invasion of England in 1066 as well as in Italy and Spain, the Crusades and the Kingdom of Cyprus where nobles with the title of d'Morphou lived until the Turkish invasion in the 16th century which caused the mixed population to disperse across Western Europe.
The search has not finished and further information is always welcome to piece the Morffew story together.
